Eclipse Summit Europe Keynotes Announced

The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the keynote speakers for the Eclipse Summit Europe conference, to be held November 19-20 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The two keynote speakers will be:
  • David Wood, Executive VP Research at Symbian. Mr. Wood’s talk ‘Why Should the Mobile World Go Open Source?’ will be his reflections on the possible upsides and downsides when open source software systems are applied in the fast-moving helter-skelter world of mobile phones.

New Global Eclipse Training Series Launch in 31 Cities

The Eclipse Foundation, in partnership with 14 Eclipse Foundation members, is pleased to announce a new Eclipse Training Series to be held in 31 cities around the world. The instructor-led training courses will be held from November 3 to December 13, 2008 and feature classes on Eclipse RCP (Basic and Advanced), Eclipse Equinox and Eclipse Modeling technologies.

The deadline for the Eclipse Summit Europe Call for Papers is Monday, September 1, 2008. Eclipse Summit Europe is the Eclipse Foundation’s annual community event for the European Eclipse ecosystem and is scheduled for November 19-20 in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

Winners of the Ganymede Around the World Contest Announced

In June and July, Eclipse held a Ganymede Around the World Contest for individuals to submit their reviews of the Ganymede release. Over 600 reviews and messages were received from more than 70 different countries. All submissions can be seen on the Ganymede Around the World map. The reviews have been judged and the results are in.

Eclipse Delivers Its Annual Release Train

The Ganymede Release is a coordinated release of 23 different Eclipse project teams that represents over 18 million lines of code.

Eclipse Expands Open Source Technologies for Embedded and Mobile Developers

Eclipse Announces EclipseLink Project to Deliver JPA 2.0 Reference Implementation

The Eclipse Foundation today announced that Sun, the lead for the Java(TM) Persistence API (JPA) 2.0, JSR 317 standard has selected the EclipseLink project as the reference implementation. The Eclipse Persistence Services Project (EclipseLink), led by Oracle, delivers an open source runtime framework supporting key persistence standards. The EclipseLink project provides a rich set of services that address complex mapping, performance and scalability and advanced functionality required for enterprise Java applications.

Eclipse Announces New Runtime Initiative around Equinox
