Eclipse Cloud DevTools Digest - February, 2022

There is a lot going on in the Eclipse Cloud DevTools community. In this post, I'd like to recap the goings on, interesting publications, developments, and project releases during the month of February. Cloud IDE Day 2022

This year’s Cloud IDE Day will take place on April 27th. Speakers from various companies will share their knowledge and discuss latest developments in the area of cloud-based IDEs. If there is a Cloud IDE topic you would like to see covered or have an experience you want to share, be sure to let us know, so we can include it as a topic at Cloud IDE Day on April 27th! Whether as a speaker or as a participant, don’t miss out on one of the biggest Cloud IDE events of the year.

Eclipse Theia 1.23 Introduces a Flexible Toolbar

Jonas, Maximilian & Philip announced in their recent blog the release of Eclipse Theia 1.23, including support for a new flexible toolbar. The article highlights a number of improvements and provides an overview of the latest news around Theia.

February Contributor Award

This month's Eclipse Cloud DevTools Contributor Award goes to Ericsson's (represented by Colin Grant) for work on the web-based Memory Inspector. Congratulations to Colin and the Ericsson team! Learn more in this blog post.

Theia Playright Enables End-to-End Testing of Theia Apps

Theia Playwright is a recent addition to the Theia universe and provides a page object framework to simplify the development of end-to-end tests for Theia-based applications. It is written in Typescript and built on top of Playwright, a very popular and powerful browser-automation and testing library.

Coder and Open VSX Registry

OpenVSX is an open alternative to the VS Code extension marketplace hosted by the Eclipse Foundation. Find out why the code-server team at Coder made the switch from a custom extension marketplace to the Open VSX Registry in this guest blog from Joe Previte.

Using Eclipse Che to review pull requests

Eclipse Che makes it possible to review a pull request (PR) without setting up runtimes, build tools, or any extra software on the local machine. This blog post demonstrates the typical workflow of reviewing PRs of a GitHub project that is well-integrated with Eclipse Che.

We are now scheduling Cloud Tool Time webinars for the 2022 season. If you are interested in presenting, or have a topic you would like to have discussed, now is the time to let us know. Getting Listed on the Cloud DevTools Blog

When we launched our redesigned Eclipse Cloud DevTools website last year, we also added a new blog section. We then seeded it with some initial posts that already existed, and have continued to add content.

Now, we are looking for even more great blog content, which is where you come in! If you are working with, or on, anything in the Cloud DevTools space, learn how to get your writings posted.
