by Ostatic Staff - Mar. 16, 2009

Next week, March 23rd to 26th, EclipseCon takes place in Santa Clara, California. Eclipse is a very large open source community focused on open develpment platforms, and extensible frameworks and tools, overseen by The Eclipse Foundation. The conference is an annual event, and this year's will feature a number of high-profile speakers, including developers and software leads from Microsoft, IBM and other companies and organizations. The first 30 OStatic readers who register for the conference can get a $300 discount (normally $1,795 if bought in advance) by entering the following code upon registration: OSTATECON09. Here's more about what to expect at EclipseCon.

Eclipse is a collaborative network that took root with a single project in 2001 and now has 100+ projects and nearly 200 member companies. The EclipseCon conference will include a number of educational sessions, with a selection shown here and a full list available at the EclipseCon site:

Android and the Eclipse Ecosystem
The Unbearable Stupidity of Modeling
Eclipse on Rails and Rockets
From Data to Intelligence in 17 Clicks

In addition to representatives from Microsoft and IBM, the conference will include speakers from eBay, LinkedIn, Amazon and other companies. Clay Shirky, a noted expert on community building, social networks, and the intersection of economics and culture, will deliver a talk about community-building in open source.

Once again, the first 30 OStatic readers who register for the conference can get $300 discounts. The required code for the discount is: OSTATECON09.
