Eclipse Day Paris takes place November 5, 2010 and is a day-long event to explore Eclipse projects and topics for the French community. The event is ideal for IT decision makers, software architects and process and methods engineers that are interested in using Eclipse.

Essentially Virgo is the culmination of 3 years of work in developing an application server based entirely on OSGi and exposing OSGi for use by applications. Virgo started inside SpringSource as the dm Server project which was licensed under the GNU Public License and shipped two major versions. About a year ago we started donating the codebase to Eclipse as the Virgo project licensed under the much more liberal Eclipse Public License.

The Eclipse Enterprise Modeling Day is scheduled for October 28, 2010 in Zurich Switzerland. The purpose of the event is for large organizations to share experiences and best practices for using Eclipse modeling technology. More details here.

During the month of November, the Eclipse community will be hosting DemoCamps in cities around the world. For this series, the Foundation is introducing a new program to reach out to the academic and student communities. Building on the success of our regular DemoCamp series, we invite university students and professors to organize Campus DemoCamps.

The Eclipse Foundation has made the area of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) a strategic topic and has created a new top level project for application lifecycle tools. The Mylyn project will now become the home for related areas such as the management of tasks, contexts, software configurations and builds, as well as for reviews and documentations.

Coming from a .NET background, I love the Visual Studio debugger. I can stop code execution at any time and look at the values of any of the variables. There's none of this dumping huge arrays to the web page and examining the output. I've wanted to set up a debugger for Drupal with Eclipse for a long time now, and setup instructions vary wildly. The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the keynotes and technical program for the upcoming fifth annual Eclipse Summit Europe (ESE) conference. ESE is the annual Eclipse European community event planned for November 2-4, 2010 in Ludwigsburg Germany.

Eclipse Day in Rome is being held on October 5, 2010. It is the first event taking place in Italy that is focused on the enterprise adoption of Eclipse-based solutions. The main topics that Eclipse Day in Rome will explore are service-oriented architectures, integration and interoperability domains, and there will be specific use cases from the Eclipse ecosystem.

Earlier this year, we announced Eclipse Labs, which is “a single place where anyone can start and maintain their open source projects based on the Eclipse platform with just a few clicks.� Since we use Eclipse so much here at Google, hosting Eclipse Day at the Googleplex is one way of giving back to the community and providing an environment for Eclipse contributors and users to network and share ideas.

The Eclipse Foundation and Eclipse member companies are pleased to announce the fall 2010 training class series. The training is an excellent opportunity for software developers and architects to learn more about Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP), BIRT and Modeling technologies. Eclipse experts will lead the sessions, providing practical experience through classroom instruction and hands-on labs. Virtual and on-site classes have been scheduled in several countries from September 20 to November 5, 2010.

Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11g aims to help accelerate Java development tasks. Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse is a free set of Eclipse-based plug-ins that enables developers to build Java EE and Web Services applications for the Oracle Fusion Middleware platform where Eclipse is the preferred Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
