EclipseRT Community Continues to Grow with New Projects and Contributors

This week at EclipseCon 2010 two new Eclipse projects, Eclipse Gemini and Eclipse Virgo, join the EclipseRT community. These two projects provide important functionality required by organizations building enterprise solutions. Both projects represent important milestones in the continued growth of the EclipseRT community.

Sigasi Makes its IDE for VHDL available as an Eclipse plugin

Sigasi, an EDA company focused on agile hardware design tools, today announced that it will make Sigasi HDT, an Intelligent Development Environment (IDE) for VHDL, available as an Eclipse plugin. As from today, Sigasi HDT will be available in two versions: as a standalone application as before, and as an Eclipse plugin. A tool license includes the right to use either version, at any time, at the customer's discretion.

BSI to open source Scout framework

In May, Swiss company Business Systems Integration AG (BSI) will release its Scout business application framework to the open source community. A first look at the Scout project's source code will be available to attendees at this year's EclipseCon conference, taking place from the 22nd to the 25th of March, 2010 in Santa Clara, California.

Mylyn Enables Agile ALM for Eclipse

The Eclipse Foundation today announced new initiatives to support the ongoing growth of the Eclipse Mylyn ecosystem. The open source Mylyn project is a widely extended framework for integrating task and application lifecycle management (ALM) tools with the Eclipse IDE. The project will create new sub-projects representing key IDE/ALM integration categories.

The training is an excellent opportunity for software developers and architects to learn more about Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP), Equinox & OSGi and Modeling technologies. Eclipse experts will lead the sessions, providing practical experience through classroom instruction and hands-on labs. Virtual and on-site classes have been scheduled in several countries from April 12 to May 28, 2010.

IBM and Eclipse efforts focus on OSGi modularity

OSGi, which is intended to provide modularity for Java, is the focus of efforts afoot at IBM and the Eclipse Foundation, with IBM leveraging OSGi in its application server and Eclipse using it in a new framework for accessing enterprise technology.

With an upcoming feature pack for WebSphere Application Server (WAS) v7, IBM seeks to make it easier to use OSGi.
