With FOSDEM 2023 kicking off this week, we are happy to welcome IoTeX as the latest addition to the Oniro family. IoTeX joins our continually growing ecosystem as a Silver member.
With a focus on decentralized networks, IoTeX shares the Oniro vision, which is to power billions of devices and decentralized applications across the physical and digital world. Oniro will provide the foundation for IoTeX research scientists and top engineers to combine blockchain, trusted hardware, and edge computing. The addition of IoTeX will lead to a stronger and more diverse open source platform for IoT & Edge applications.
"The addition of IoTeX to the Oniro Project opens new and exciting possibilities for the platform within the machine economy," says Agustín Benito Bethencourt, Oniro Program Manage at Eclipse Foundation. "We welcome IoTeX to the Oniro team and look forward to their contributions."
Dr. Chai, formerly from Google, Uber, and Oracle, said "IoTeX is extremely pleased to contribute to global open source, which he says has facilitated the development of the most innovative software."
"Open source software is often more flexible and of higher quality than commercial software because it is developed by thousands of developers from around the world versus commercial one, which is created by a reduced team,” Chai added.
IoTeX is the leading decentralized network powering the future of web3 and the machine economy (MachineFi). The platform is built for developers to connect billions of machines with web3 infrastructure, to create innovative products including DeFi, NFT, DAO, Metaverse, and MachineFi applications. Founded in 2017 with a team of alumni from Google, Facebook, Uber, Bosch, and Intel, IoTeX has launched a high-performance public blockchain with off-chain computing for devices and machines, cross-chain bridges, wallet, and the MachineFi marketplace. The IoTeX network has grown rapidly with >$2B in assets on-chain, >300K on-chain users, and >10k devices connected across hundreds of dapps.
Oniro is a vendor-neutral, open source, distributed platform for consumer and IoT devices. It's the ideal platform for enabling interoperability and communication across all device classes--from tiny embedded sensors and actuators, to feature-rich smart appliances and mobile companions.
Designed with modularity in mind, Oniro offers greater levels of flexibility and application portability across a broad spectrum of devices, with the goal of reducing technology silos and making communication between devices smoother and more efficient. Device makers, app developers, open source communities, R&D labs and corporate enterprises can all benefit from Oniro.
