Eclipse Continues Momentum in Device and Embedded Software Development

The Eclipse Foundation today announced new project initiatives and releases for the Device Software Development Platform (DSDP) and C/C++ Development Tools (CDT) Projects, both increasingly popular with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and vendors of real-time operating systems (RTOSs), software development tools, and electronic design automation (EDA) tools. These new initiatives further extend the Eclipse ecosystem into the embedded and device software markets.

Eclipse Development Road Map version 2 Approved

The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the board of directors approved version 2 of the Eclipse Development Road Map on March 20th, 2006. This road map is important for making Eclipse a predictable and reliable community for open source technology. The open and transparent governance of Eclipse facilitated a great deal of community involvement during the revisions of the road map.

Eclipse Foundation announces expanded support for Eclipse Integration Platform

Eclipse Foundation announced today new partnerships that strengthen the Eclipse Application Lifecycle Framework (ALF) Project and has made available for download of the new proof of concept code which will demo at EclipseCon 2006. The ALF Project, initiated by Serena Software in the spring of 2005, addresses the universal problem of integrating Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) technologies so that they provide full interoperability. Currently more than thirty vendors have pledged support for the ALF project and momentum continues.

Eclipse Foundation, Zend Technologies, and IBM Announce the Approval of the PHP IDE Project

The Eclipse Foundation, an open source community committed to the implementation of a universal software development platform, Zend Technologies and IBM, today announced that the Eclipse PHP IDE project has been approved by the Eclipse Foundation. The technology project was proposed by Zend and IBM on October 21, 2005. It will deliver a PHP Integrated Development Environment framework for the Eclipse Platform and will encompass the development components necessary to develop PHP-based web applications and will leverage the existing Eclipse Web Tools Project.

Eclipse Rich Client Platform Continues Momentum with New Releases and Projects

The Eclipse Foundation today announced several new open source initiatives around the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) to accelerate the adoption and utility of the Eclipse platform. Eclipse RCP is an integration platform for building and deploying robust rich client applications. Today's new project releases and new project proposals will further simplify RCP development and extend the usage of Eclipse RCP.

EclipseCon 2006 Opens with Strong Participation from the Eclipse Community

The Eclipse Foundation today kicked off its third annual EclipseCon 2006 user conference at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. This year's show is the largest gathering yet of the vibrant and active Eclipse community. The conference has attracted 46 exhibitors and 10 open source projects and features over 140 technical sessions.

Eclipse Community Awards Winners Announced

Eclipse Board Election Results

The Eclipse Foundation announced the results of the Add-in Provider and Committer elections for representatives to the board of directors. Congratulations to Howard Lewis and Todd Williams for being re-elected and Jochen Krause and Mike Taylor as new Add-in Provider representatives. Scott Lewis and Kai-Uwe Maetzel will be returning as Committer representatives, along with the newly elected Jeff McAffer and Tim Wagner. We're looking forward to working with you on the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors.
