Since joining the Eclipse Foundation in December, the OpenHW Foundation has significantly advanced its mission to develop, verify, and deliver high quality, open source RISC-V processor cores and related IP for commercial and industrial applications – and we’ve got some exciting announcements to share in the coming months.
Alongside, the OpenHW Foundation community has been active on the global stage, participating in key industry events, and fostering stronger collaborations with our expanding membership and other vital Eclipse Foundation projects, including attending and exhibiting at the 5th annual RISC-V Summit China in Shanghai, China.
Committed to the OpenHW Mission
In line with our core mission to support the goal of the EU Chips Act and similar governmental and industry initiatives with the aim of building open sovereign supply chains, the OpenHW Foundation is continuing to expand it’s role in advancing EU sovereignty within the semiconductor industry.
By fostering open source hardware development, the OpenHW Foundation helps to reduce reliance on proprietary technologies and intellectual property. This commitment to transparency and community-driven innovation empowers regions to build secure and independent technology stacks, directly contributing to the autonomy of the European Union in critical technological sectors.
Along this theme, OpenHW Foundation’s CEO, Florian Wohlrab presented on Contributions Towards European Sovereignty for Embedded Processors at the RISC-V Summit EU. Watch the full video.
Welcome To Our New Member BOSC
We’re thrilled to welcome the Beijing Institute of Open Source Chip (BOSC) to the OpenHW Foundation and the Eclipse Foundation. BOSC promotes open source and collaborative innovation, striving to integrate RISC-V scientific and technological advancement with industrialisation.
If you would like to explore the OpenHW Foundation’s core IP and programs, please visit our repository. Participants are encouraged to join community calls, ask questions, and stay up to date on the latest technical developments by joining the conversation.
If your organisation is interested in joining the leading global community for industrial grade, open source RISC-V CPU development and innovation, please reach out.
