The Eclipse Foundation launched on Monday the Sparkplug Working Group, which is driving the evolution and broad adoption of the Eclipse Sparkplug Specification that enables the creation of open, interoperable, industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions utilizing MQTT.

Um die Implementierung von Sparkplug im Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) gezielt voranzutreiben, hat die Open-Source-Organisation nun die Sparkplug Working Group ins Leben gerufen, zu deren Gründungsmitgliedern unter anderen Chevron, Canary Labs, Cirrus Link Solutions, HiveMQ, Inductive Automation und ORing zählen.

Today at the ARC Advisory Group’s 24th Annual Industry Forum, the Eclipse Foundation announced the launch of the Sparkplug Working Group, which is driving the evolution and broad adoption of the Eclipse Sparkplug Specification that enables the creation of open, interoperable, Industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions utilizing MQTT.

The Eclipse Foundation has announced it is launching the Sparkplug Working Group. This group will help drive the evolution and adoption of the Eclipse Sparkplug Specification, which enables the creation of open and interoperable IIoT solutions using the messaging protocol MQTT.

Just in the past month, the two largest public cloud players – Amazon Web Services Inc. and Microsoft Corp. – announced major new initiatives around edge computing. Intel Corp., along with several other notable companies, launched a new Edge Native Working Group on Tuesday. And telecommunications giants Deutsche Telekom and China Mobile both weighed in with recent advances in the edge space.

According to a report by Globe newswire, the Eclipse Foundation has launched the Edge Native Working Group. It is a vendor-neutral and code-first industry collaboration that aims to push the adoption of open source software for edge computing.

After being in the works for a while, the Eclipse Foundation launched another special interest working group – this time, it’s for edge computing.
