Hold the Dates for EclipseCon 2007

The Eclipse Foundation announced today the keynote speakers for its fourth annual community conference, EclipseCon 2007. The conference brings together the Eclipse community to share and learn new techniques, ideas and technologies, as well as provide information about the latest developments and future plans of the Eclipse projects. The conference will be held March 5-8, 2007 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Eclipse Device Software Development Platform (DSDP) Announces Three Milestone Releases

The Eclipse Foundation, an open source community committed to the implementation of a universal software development platform, today announced three milestone releases within the Eclipse Device Software Development Platform (DSDP). Founded in 2005 as a top-level Eclipse project, the mission of DSDP is to create an open, extensible, scalable and standards-based development platform to address the needs of the device software market.

Eclipse Celebrates Five Years as an Open Source Community and Ecosystem

Today, the Eclipse community celebrates five years as an open source project. Eclipse has grown from its roots as a Java IDE project to become a universal development platform for building and deploying software. There are now 66 open source projects at Eclipse, generating millions of downloads. It is estimated that more than 1,300 Eclipse based products are now available.

EclipseCon 2007 Call for Participation Now Open

EclipseCon 2007 is now accepting submissions for tutorial and session topics. Once again this year the Eclipse community is welcomed to submit ideas for the annual Eclipse conference. The deadline for tutorial submission is November 1, long talk submissions is December 15 and Short Talk and Demos is January 15. New Re-design of Eclipse.org Home Page

We are re-designing the eclipse.org home page. The intention is to make it easier for our user community to find relevant information about the Eclipse projects and also make it easier to download.

Right now we have a beta version of the home page that will be displayed on a random basis to about 25% of the home page visitors. We have also opened a bug to collect feedback. Please let us know what you like and dislike about the home page.

Eclipse Foundation Approves APERI Storage Management Project

The Eclipse Foundation, an open source community committed to the implementation of a universal development platform, today announced that it has approved the creation of the Aperi Storage Management Framework Project. The Aperi Project, which was proposed in June 2006, will give customers more choices for deploying open-storage infrastructure software - based on an industry-stand ard framework developed by the open source community.

Second Annual Eclipse Global Enterprise Survey Points to Rapid Adoption of Eclipse Rich Client Platform

Eclipse Foundation today announced a recent Evans Data Survey confirms a significant increase in the adoption of the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) by Eclipse users. Approximately 22% of the survey respondents indicated they were building rich client applications based on Eclipse RCP; an increase of over 130% based on a previous 2005 study. The survey also indicates strong future growth and interest in Eclipse RCP, with 68% of respondents indicating they will be using it in the next six months.

Dieses besondere Release-Ereignis namens Callisto ist eines der groessten Multi-Projekt-Releases, das je eine Open-Source-Community unternommen hat. Die Eclipse Foundation bietet mit "Callisto" die synchrone Einfuehrung von zehn Einzelprojekten, die Anwendern, vor allem auch Einsteigern, die Einfuehrung von offenen Werkzeugen erleichtern.
