Eteration and the Eclipse Foundation are pleased to announce EclipsIST, the third annual Eclipse Technical and User Summit taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, April 28-29, 2009.

The Eclipse Foundation is organizing an Open Source Executive Strategy Summit on March 26 in Santa Clara, CA (same location at EclipseCon). The Summit is for executives who are responsible for their organizations open source strategy and participation. The purpose of event is to answer two questions: 1) 'What Open Source Strategies Are Working Today?' and 2) 'What Will Work in the Future?'.

The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce a major upgrade to the popular Eclipse PHP Development Tools (PDT) project. PDT is an open source development tool that provides all the basic code editing capabilities developers need to get started developing PHP applications. The focus of the PDT 2.0 release is to add support for the object-oriented programming features of PHP and to improve the overall user experience of the PDT environment.

The Eclipse Foundation today announced the Gold Sponsors for EclipseCon 2009, which will take place March 23-26 in Santa Clara, Calif. Actuate, Blu Age, IBM, Red Hat, Sopera and Wind River have all agreed to act as the premier Gold Sponsors for the annual Eclipse community conference.

The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the Eclipse Banking Day in London, on February 12, 2009 in London.

The technical program for EclipseCon 2009 has been selected and is now available on the conference web site. The number and quality of submissions received continues to increase each year, so the job of the program committee is always very difficult. Thanks to all who sent in proposals.

Registration for EclipseCon 2009 is now open. EclipseCon will be held March 23-26 in Santa Clara, CA. The "Very Early" registration price is availabe until December 31 and gives a 40% discount off the onsite price. A single fee provides access to the entire conference.

The Eclipse Foundation is inviting all members of the community to submit ideas for tutorials, long talks, short talks, posters and birds of a feather sessions for EclipseCon 2009. The categories for submission this year include Runtime, C/C++, Tools, Mobile and Embedded, Modeling, Reporting, SOA, Test & Performance, Emerging Technology, and Business and Industry Verticals.

The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the keynote speakers for the Eclipse Summit Europe conference, to be held November 19-20 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The two keynote speakers will be:

• David Wood, Executive VP Research at Symbian. Mr. Wood’s talk ‘Why Should the Mobile World Go Open Source?’ will be his reflections on the possible upsides and downsides when open source software systems are applied in the fast-moving helter-skelter world of mobile phones.

The Eclipse Foundation, in partnership with 14 Eclipse Foundation members, is pleased to announce a new Eclipse Training Series to be held in 31 cities around the world. The instructor-led training courses will be held from November 3 to December 13, 2008 and feature classes on Eclipse RCP (Basic and Advanced), Eclipse Equinox and Eclipse Modeling technologies.

The deadline for the Eclipse Summit Europe Call for Papers is Monday, September 1, 2008. Eclipse Summit Europe is the Eclipse Foundation’s annual community event for the European Eclipse ecosystem and is scheduled for November 19-20 in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

In June and July, Eclipse held a Ganymede Around the World Contest for individuals to submit their reviews of the Ganymede release. Over 600 reviews and messages were received from more than 70 different countries. All submissions can be seen on the Ganymede Around the World map. The reviews have been judged and the results are in.

The Eclipse Foundation and the entire Eclipse community are pleased to announce the availability of the Ganymede Release, the annual release train developed by the Eclipse community. The Ganymede Release is a coordinated release of 23 different Eclipse project teams that represents over 18 million lines of code.
