Eclipse Galileo Release Now Available

For the sixth year in a row, the Eclipse community has delivered its annual release train on its scheduled date. Galileo, the 2009 release train, is the largest ever release from the Eclipse community, comprising 33 projects and over 24 million lines of code. Over 380 committers from 44 different organizations participated to make this release possible.

Eclipse Summit Europe Call for Participation

The call for participation is now open for Eclipse Summit Europe, the Eclipse Foundation’s annual European community event, taking place October 27-29, 2009 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. You are invited to submit proposals in five categories: 1) embedded, 2) IDEs, 3) modeling, 4) runtime, or 5) other new & noteworthy that is of interest to the Eclipse community.

Eclipse Acceleo Day

The first Eclipse Acceleo Day is being held in Nantes, France on July 10, 2009. Acceleo is a component of the Eclipse Model to Text (M2T) project and the workshop will be an event where users and developers of Acceleo can meet, present their planned extensions, and discuss model-driven engineering.

Galileo In Action

On June 26, the Eclipse Foundation is presenting Galileo In Action - a virtual conference where you can interact with project leads involved in the release and see demos of the new features. Celebrate Galileo at an Eclipse DemoCamp

Eclipse Community Survey: Tell us what you are using

The Eclipse Foundation announced the results of the Committer and Sustaining Members elections for representatives to the board of directors.

Congratulations to Chris Aniszczyk, Doug Gaff and Ed Merks for being re-elected as Committer representatives. Boris Bokowski will join them as a new Committer representative. Mike Taylor will be returning as a Sustaining Member representative, joined by the newly elected Hans-Joachim Brede, Hans Kamutzki and Shawn Pearce.

The training is an excellent opportunity for software developers and architects to learn more about Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP), Equinox & OSGi and Modeling technologies. Eclipse experts will lead the sessions, providing practical experience through classroom instruction and hands-on labs. Classes have been scheduled in 24 different cities around the world from April 6 to May 29, 2009.
